Certificate of good standing

The certificate of good standing serves as a confirmation of the good reputation of a medical specialist. The certificate of good standing is issued on the basis of the Edinburgh Agreement on the exchange of information on the professional status of medical workers signed in 2006. The certificate of good standing issued by the Ukrainian Medical Academy will be necessary for specialists who are going to continue their education or medical practice abroad.

The certificate of good standing confirms that its owner:

• is not currently subject to scrutiny by the ethics committee;
• is not subject to disciplinary sanctions that result in the removal of the specialist from the register;
• has not committed disciplinary violations and has no accusations or complaints against himself/herself.

The issue of the certificate of good standing involves the payment of an administrative fee. During COVID-19 times and martial law in Ukraine, the certificates are issued only in electronic form.

The validity of the certificate of good standing is limited to one year, however, according to the rules of other registration authorities, the certificate may become invalid after 3-6 months. In this case, the healthcare practitioner must submit a new application for the issuance of a certificate.

Usually, it takes 7-10 business days to issue a certificate, in case the applicant is already registered with the Ukrainian Medical Academy.
